Default Predator set up help

Hi,
Got a predator for christmas but haven't done nothing with it, because GM was looking at my engine, for piston slap they say it's bad but to put more miles on it it has 12,000 on a 2001 SS. So now I'd like to install some different programing. Sure could use some help. My car is basically stock.I'm running a 3200 stall torque, slp air lid and holley filter, 160 thermostat and Free air mods.Is there any programing to help me. I run 1/8 mile drags where I live and currently do it in 8.2 seconds with ET streets sure will appreciate and programing help.
Would it help to raise the rev limeter? is there more hp to be made that way.

Have you installed the Predator Tune yet? That will help quite a bit. It will delete Torque Management for you, raise the timing, and some other stuff. Then you can go in & set shift points & the rev limiter if you want. With a stock motor, I wouldn't exceed 5900 - 6000 rpms. The valve train won't take it, and you won't develope any power above 6k anyway.

Here is how I set mine up for drag racing with a stock motor:

Rev Limiter "On" @ 6190, "Off" @ 6100 in each gear (if the Predator doesn't do this automatically)
Shift points
MPH
1-2 40 mph
2-3 79 mph
RPM
1-2 & 2-3 5900 rpm
Shift Time
1-2 & 2-3 -25%
Shift Pressure
1-2 & 2-3 +25%

The Predator does a logical "AND" for shifting. When the mph AND the rpm parameters are set true, it shifts. I found setting the mph a little low, & then the rpm where you want it to shift works best.

Note - I have 3.23 gears, & 315/35/ZR17 tires, so your mph setting might vary depending on your car's setup.

You can also set your fans to turn on earlier to take advantage of your 160* therm. I have a 180 & set #1 to turn on at 180, and #2 to turn on at 195. And that is where it runs (195).

From there you can play with timing & fuel if you want. I'd start by monitoring KR (knock retard) in 3rd gear @ WOT on the freeway. If you have any, reduce timing (5% = about 1 deg) or increase fuel - called PE. I had 1.7 deg of KR & added + 1.7% fuel & ended up at 0. But you may have better luck taking out 1.7 deg of timing too. If you don't have any KR, try adding timing to see if it makes the car faster.

This should get your started. Have fun & good luck!

I agree.

I have most of my settings like above, with a couple changes.

Keep en eye on your fuel trims, and spark timing. Pay particular attention to knock retard. Get a lower thermostat.

When you take your car back to the dealer you can put the stock tune back in, takes about a minute. You could have been using your Predator this whole time!
