I have a 00 C5 that I would like to add a cam to.

My current mods are black wing intake, corsa exhaust and x pipe, stainless steel works headers and 4.10 gears. I dyno'd 336 RWHP and 338 RWT.

I'd like to get some good gains, but also like to remain stealthy for racing(ie. most people won't know I have a cam). Any good suggestions...?

Will need some more info:

A4 or M6?
Street, Street/Strip, or just Strip car?
Sticking with Stock heads or upgrading?

In an M6 car you will want to stay with 114 LSA or higher for "stealth mode", A4 probably 114+ LSA. Give me some more info and I will throw you some cam specs <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> .

Oops, sorry about that. I figured with the 4.10's most would know it's a 6 speed. However, there are some A4 guys with 4.10 also <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Car is a daily driver, about 400 miles a week. Mostly street, I don't make it out to the local tracks to often.

Sticking with stock heads for now, don't want the added expense yet....maybe some TEA 5.3 heads in the future when my wallet allows.

For nice gains and to stay stealthy, I would say go with TR 227/224. It is hardly noticeable, but it will let you pick up some good power! If that is too big for you, then go with a 220/220.

What kind of rwhp gains are people seeing from the 227/224 cam? Would this cam require changing springs every year or so? I want to say as maintenance free was possible...

For your requirements look into the TR220 on 114 or the TR 224 on 114. Another suggestion would be the MTI "B1" cam 221/221 .558 .558 on 114 or the MTI "Hammer" cam.

I have a used B1 cam for sale if your interested e-mail me huftycur@netusa1.net. I did a lot of searching before i bought it and it was a very well respected cam without being too aggressive. Very good daily driver cam and would work well in a M6 without tuning. specs are 221/221 558/558 114lsa price is $260 shipped

What kind of RWHP gains are people getting from these...? No one has talked about power numbers. I don't want to spend $1500 on a cam, install, and tuning for 15 rwhp. I would need at least 30 rwhp to justify the $$. Otherwise, I'll just save for heads & cam and get 80 rwhp <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

I second the 227/224. JMX made 399 with heads and stock exhaust. And in his cound clips, you cant even tell its there. Check out the sound clips link in my sig, you might find somehting you like there <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

It is not uncommon to see 390 RWHP with all the bolt-ons and the B1/Hammer/TR 224. The other big piece you will be missing is the '01 and up intake- its annother 10 RWHP on top of the cam.

There are lots of people on the thread that back up the B1 and C1, the only difference between the two is the B1 is 114 lsa for a smoother idle and the C1 is a 112 lsa

I have a 228/224 114, and it is NOT stealthy at all...granted there are much more aggresive sounding cams out there, but you can tell there is a cam in the car...

IMO, if you want a good cam, that you can drive 400 miles a week with, and keep it sounding like stock....look at the Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam

the specs are as follows: 207/220 .573 .580 117.5 LSA

it will keep stock idle quality and make some good power...
