help me explain 10 bolt
So my buddy has built his 10 bolt with a stud kit, rear end girdle, Auburn differential, Motive 3.73 Please help me explain to him that his 10 bolt is going to grenade at some point.
He wants to know how much more burable it would be over a stock 10 bolt. He doesn't launch from a dig but he does roll race from 30 or 40 mph.
He thinks his 10 bolt is going to last forever. I told him it's going to wine and explode at some point soon. I know there are a few factory freak cars that have survived. His already broke and I told him not to fix it but he is not listening. Let him know his time is limited even with aftermarket 10 bolt parts.

Well I run the stock 10 bolt but with a Detroit Trutrack upgrade with mods in sig. No problems as of yet and I'm running some serious hp & tq with 4.10 gears on a 6-speed trans with drag radials. But much like your buddy I mainly roll race

My brothers car (TA) made 440 to the wheels. WE pulled out one night and he was going to show off and decided to nail it and catch second, Not a good Idea.
It stripped all the teeth off the ring gear LOL

Dumping the clutch with sticky tires will typically kill it. If he's roll racing, maybe it isn't as hard on the rear. I'm already worried about mine. I won't upgrade the tires, so I know they should break loose before something gives. Sort of my own safety margin
He's done what can be done to strengthen the axle. Best you can do is if he does break it, talk him into getting one he won't have to worry about.

if its an auto the 10 bolt lasts very well , many 10 & 11 sec cars on stock 10 bolts with an auto , 6 speeds generally eat them up if you make a habit of launching with sticky tires on a sticky track even at 12 sec power levels.
If he is roll racing an auto its not likely to break anytime soon so you will lose this argument lol , if he is launching a 6 speed with traction to dead hook it it wont take long to break

The question is not how " burable " it is or isn't, the question is the persons driving habits..
"To " burable " or not to " burable " that is the question!

If it's set up well it will last a while. I busted my stock 10 bolt with only 400whp. Rebuilt one with a girdle and set up the gears tight and it never went boom even at 800rwhp roll-ons. No hard launches and no super sticky tires though and I never trusted it of course. Being light 32xx lbs helped. M6 too.
