Exclamation New Member(ls1 Porsche 944 build)

Hello fellas,
As you already know i am a new member trying to get my posts up to 50 ASAP. I am trying to build a ls1 with around 400 to the wheels. At first, The plan was to just buy a Complete 5.7 out of a 99- 01 Camaro for around 3500 But after looking into it I think i want to attempt to piece together a 5.7 or 6.0. Anyone with thoughts or advice. i would greatly appreciate it.

400RWHP is childs play with an LS1, you don't need to piece one together for that.
A full bolt on/dyno tuned Ls1 will make an easy 350RWHP, add a decent sized cam and the supporting mods and you will have 400+rwhp.
I would just try and find an LS1 in decent shape and throw a cam in it like I just said.

You're looking to swap an LS into a 944. I'm conflicted, but good luck! Those cars are beautiful.

That is what i was thinking. The main reason I was thinking about piecing one together was to maybe go bigger. Maybe a 6.0 but i really don't want the extra 50lbs of an iron block in my 2700 lbs 944. And it seems to be very difficult to find a decent priced aluminum 6.0. Either way. I am more than likely going to go your route. Thanks for your input.

I understand what you mean. I have had my 944 for about 5 years now and it has only ran good for about 1 of those years. I think the 2.5 N/A engine is just **** poor design. With that being said, I love that dam car and can't wait to get it back on the road! I'm not starting the build until late december but I will post as many pics and vids as I can. It will be Brakes, engine, suspension, wheels and tires, ETC... The engine hunt has been my biggest headache.

I converted my 70 914 to a V8 which was fun. That was about 3 years ago. Then I saw how popular the LS conversion was in the 911's and 944's.

Good luck with your build. I am sure you can find a lot of your parts at Renegade in Las Vegas.
