Default size of rings & performance??

hi there
i have the new caprice 2002 with 16 inch rim
http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...a?modelid=8000
i want it faster by chaning rims (i dont care about how does it looks) ,, and i care a little about the traction..
does lighter rims make the car faster??? if yes then does it worth?? should i consider the weight of the rims??
im thinking of change it to 15 inch.. whats ur comments??

hmm i have many questions on this subject so anyone know a good thread or website that talks about this subject??

Ring?

I guess you mean the size of the rims, you will usually see better performance with smaller rims(rings), but most people will agree that a little bit bigger rims look better and give you better handling. Most people also like to run a wider tire to achieve better handling and traction.

Smaller and/or lighter wheels do help in performance, due to reduing the rotational mass.

A wheel of the same size, but lighter construction will lighten the rotational mass.
