Default 335 or 345 size tires on my F-Body.....help......

Can it be done?

If so, how?

Which rims should I buy, HRE 545's are the ones I like.

Which tires?

What mods need to be done?

What tires are the best for roll races?

Thanks.

It was done on the ZR1 Camaro but they did have the big bulky fender flares on it so I'm not sure what all it would take but I'de kinda like to know!

I think Kumho has a 335 that requires the least amount of wheel width. Most 335s require a 12 inch minimum width, the Kumho Ecsta V700 335 only requires a 11 inch wide wheel minimum. I think the width recommended is 12 inches though.

You could try a 11.5 width and it should work fine with those tires. I really think you could get 335s in the rear with some work. When I decided to run 315s, TireRac had some old 335/35/17 BFG R1s on sale cheap, real cheap. I bought a set of those to use as a Go/No-Go gage. I figured that if I could get the 335s to fit,, 315s would be no problem. Well I got them to fit, BUT they were on too small of a rim. The tires didn't work worth a hoot, they really needed another .5-1 inch more wheel width.

Once you have the 11.5 inch wheels {heck, try 11s if you already have them}, you will have to do all the things you have to do to run 315s and then some. I was one of the lucky ones. All I had to do was to clearence the inner fender {behind the tires} a bit with a dead blow hammer. Actually, I didn't do alot of wailing with the hammer at all. I had to run a adjustable panhard bar as I was running a set of Eibach LT1 Pro-Kits the LT1 springs seem to be a smidge lower and stiffer that the LS1 springs}. I did not cut/grind the bumpstops on my car as the only time they hit is when I jack up the car by the frame. It was actually pretty easy, only thing easier was putting 315s up front-didn't do anything.

You will have alot more banging to do than that to run 335s on 11.5 wheels though. You could most likely get away from any metal cutting if you ran the 11s, if you try the 11.5,, cutting may be a possibility. If you try to run a 12 inch wide,,, cutting will be mandatory most likely. If you get your offset and back-spacing spot on, you will have to trim the outer fender a bit {I got away without haveing to do that on my 315s, alot of folks have to do it though}.

Remember,I think that for the tires to work decently, they will require at least a 11.5 wheel {at least with the Ecsta 700s}, a 12 inch would be required for most other tires. A 12 inch wide rim with a 335 tire is going to require alot of "shoehorning" to say the least, most likely you will have to mildly "mini-tub" the wheel houses.
