I was under the assumption that 4.10's go on 10 bolts/12 bolts and 4.11's go on 8.8/9 inch rears. Same gear basically, just fit different rear ends. Somebody correct me if Im wrong.

A 4.10 takes 4.1 turns of the pinion to move the ring gear one complete turn. The 4.11 takes 4 and 11 hundredths of a turn of the pinion to rotate the ring gear one complete turn. Meaning, virtually no difference (none that you'll ever notice). It is just a difference of ratios between the 10 bolt and 9". If you want one or the other, find what fits your rear axle and run it. You'll never know any difference, they are (in operation) identical.

Number of teeth on the ring and pinion gear.
Both the 9 inch and GM 12 bolt use 4.11's, 4.10's are for the GM 10 bolt. As stated above, a different combination of teeth on the ring and pinion are used to get essentialy the same ratio.

4.10's = 41 teeth on ring gear, 10 on pinion
4.11's = 37 teeth on ring gear, 9 on pinion
