Default Need suggestions on what head/cam package to go with.

Ive got an all bolt on car and bought the 224/.581/112 cam to start off my first internal mod, but I havent put it in just yet. The reason for this is because Ive heard that with that cam and stock heads, I will be replacing my valve springs every 10k miles. Well I dont want to be doing that and so I considered doing heads. Now it took me months before I decided on a cam and now Im wanting to get rid of it because that cam is not going to be enough for stage 2 heads. Ive heard that the 224 cam is the ultimate cam for stock heads, but wont be enough with the stage 2 heads. So, Im going to get rid of the 224 cam and take suggestions on what head/cam package to go with. I know that I want to do an LS1 head just because I want to keep it an LS1 car, but I know already that the 5.3L heads are good heads to go with. I know that I can choose from 5.3L, 5.7L, LS6, and 6.0L heads. I dont know anything about heads, so I was kind of worried about those other heads not working with the FLP headers and not to mention, doing other modifications to use non-LS1 heads. So will all of those heads work with the LS1 FLP headers? What all modifications will have to be done in order to run heads other than the LS1 heads? Anyhow, Im not looking to concentrate my car for racing purposes only, I just want to pick up some really good numbers, obtain an awesome choppy sound, and for the car to still be streetable and driveable. So if you would please, give me suggestions on what head/cam package to go with, thanks alot and sorry its so long.

I personally went with MTI because they have consistent HP number, but pricey..Im paying $6,100 for their S2 LS1 Heads/X1 Cam, Installation, Tuning, comes with pushrods, etc. You might want to look at LG Motorsports package..It seems to be doing VERY well Alot of people have different opinions so this thread can go on forever. In my opinion, mostly all packages from the sponsors put down awesome numbers, just depends how much $$ you want to spend..
Pricey but good heads: MTI, GTP, ARE? etc.
Not to pricey but good heads: Absoulute, JPR?

Like I said all sponsors have good sets, just depends how much u wanna spend..If u know how to install them urself, you save urself alot of $$. I personally want my mods done professionaly, Im even payin MTI $400.00 to install my Walbro 340 Intank Fuel Pump..

Yeah $6100 is alot of money, but then again I will be installing them myself. Ive already got custom tuning from MTI, so MTI is one place that I have in mind for a head/cam package. Thanks and I hope that more of you will pitch in their 2cents. Thanks

Give Cartek Racing www.cartek.net a call as well.
They've been putting out some great numbers/track times lately and are a board sponsor here as well.
