Drag Racing Tech - Will I be the first N/A all bolt-on LS1 in the 11's on regular street radials?

This is a rather ambiguous question...in one way I mean do you guys think I can do it, and in another way I mean will I be the first one to do it?
Previous best in the sig...
Changes:
1) ~ 20°F cooler temps
2) a little more practice at launching, shifting
3) -200 lbs. weight reduction
4) underdrive crank pulley
5) shortbelt (PS bypass)
6) possibly an aluminum driveshaft
Just looking at MPH, I have the potential to run 117 MPH, which should be good for 11's w/ a 2.0 60'. If I can duplicate my 1.957 60', I think 11's are in the bag. What are your thoughts?
Peace out.

I'm shooting for 11s on Nittos..
Since running the time in the sig, I've swapped in an alluminum DS, yanked the front sway bar, ordered an ASP crank Pulley, and I'm still looking for a used set of skinnies. Hopefully that'll be enough to do it..

i think by the term "Regular Street Radials" he means street tires. Nitto DR's are great tires, but I hate when people term them as street tires when having discussions like this. Anyway...how/where did you lose 200#? and I think you already have an aluminum DS. Did you mean CF?

I guess you could think of them in that way, since they are steel-belted radial tires, but I'm talking about regular old plain-jane street tires. Mine are Eagle GA's (235/55/16); I believe they're H-rated???

Well, okay. I haven't done it yet, but here's the list of stuff I'm going to get rid of:
-passenger and rear seats
-door panels, side speaker panels, rear speaker panels
-spare and jack
-visors
-idler pulley
-front swaybar
-carpet
-muffler
-switch to skinnies
-switch to lighter underdrive pulley
-panel under steering wheel
-glovebox
-console
Anything else you guys can add?
Oh, BTW, yeah, I'm talking SERIOUS weight reduction.

Okay, see I thought all 6-speeds came with an aluminum DS too, but mine sure doesn't LOOK aluminum. I don't know, I could VERY well be wrong about that.

Elevens on real street tires with your mods.... I don't care if you 300lbs out of the car it'll never happen.

If it means anything, Joe Prince runs 11.8s all day long with his stock weight SS on GSC's. Granted he has the ls6 cam, but a great feat none the less.

How many 12.30s have you run, and what are your 60' times?
Gotta remember one thing, as you plan on doing a ton of weight removal your traction will get much worse. Personally, I don't think this is very realistic on stock tires since ET is mostly about the 60' time.
Tony
Brian I think u need to get to the track alittle more. Then u can say he does it all day long...
Joe HAS run in the 11's on GSC's but the last 3 TIMES I was at the track he went 12.20's..
Joe can drive a car VERY ELL off the line..
IMO he might be one of the best I've ever saw...
But it takes KILLER DA's and a great launch for Joe to run 11's....
I KNOW it can be done because I've SEEN him do it
But NOT all day long....

Well I know how fast you've been and you posted waht your planning to do and I know a little bit about how to get down a 1/4 mile track so I'll say it again [b]It'll never happen.

All right, cool. Your whole thing, as cute as it is, really doesn't make any sense. How can it be BS when I haven't even done it yet? Trust me, I know my car better than you do and I know a bit about how to get down the track as well. I think with 117 MPH, a 1.9 60' will do it. So we'll see what happens Friday @ HRP. Tootleloo.

Bah. Lots of people say lots of things can't be done. Want it bad enough...and you'll do it.
Besides...how many people would have believed that 11.8's were possible with a bolt-on DOHC car on DR's?
Good luck!

Damn Joel, didn't get enough to eat today? Why the harsh tone? Granted I don't live at the track, but then agian I work for a living.
I was just replying to a post, I didn't realize it was going to offend you.
Brien
p.s. I beleive Joe ran 5 consecutive 11.9 passes a few weeks ago at Cecil and there were plenty of people there to witness it.
Once again, I didn't realize it would be such a big deal to post that.

Joel, I didn't realize that I was expressing an 'oppinion' when I mentioned that Joe had run an 11.8 simply because I didn't witness it.
I've never witnessed a man walking on the moon but I know it happened.
And yes Joel, I was just breaking your balls a little too with the working comment. I wish I could get to the track more often, but during the week is out with my work schedule and the weekend is the only time I get to spend with my wife.

Why not? Because it's never been done? How do you know what mods I have?

Tony, I've only run a 12.30 once. My next best time was a 12.41 @ 114.82. But, the 60' time on that run was nearly a tenth worse than the 1.957 I cut on the 12.30 run. My 60's are usually in the 2.05 range. BUT, since then I have become a better driver and can launch MUCH more consistently. I still think I can whittle a 1.9X 60' out of the car even when it's stripped. I'm not really taking a whole lot of weight off the back except the carpet in the back, spare and jack, and those rear speaker panels. I'm taking much more weight off the front than the back, and so with the front swaybar off and w/skinnies, hopefully I can still plant the tires semi-well. Also, I will be running at HRP, one of the stickiest tracks around, if it makes a difference. Oh, Tony, BTW, did all 6-speed cars in 2001 come with an aluminum DS?

Thanks for the encouragement, Bob. 4 more days!!! Hey, Bob....I have a question for you that is just totally off-subject. What was the "fix" that they did to the '99 Cobras?
