Default Motorcraft Mercon LV atf fluid into 4L60E??

Hey fellas I know mercon lv specifies its only for newer Ford transmissions but I was wondering if it would be safe to use in my freshly rebuilt 4L60E with new torque converter rather then using Dexron VI.. Reason iam even pondering this idea is because I have a relative who happens to have a complete case of Mercon LV said I could have it free if I needed it and well saving some bucks won't hurt but if u guys don't think I should use it on my tranny then I won't.. thank u all in advance

From a tech that I know that works at Ford, says this fluid is a downgrade from Mercon VI, and for some strange reason Ford says it is ok to use. He is not going to go with the downgrade and tells me that he will stick with Mercon VI, and from what little that I have been able to find out, he is correct.

I have a new rpm level 4 4l60e and I went with dextron 3 with no issues. You just had your trans rebuilt get the fluid it was designed for.
