Default Me vs Ctgreddy: Final race of the season

Some of you may recall the many races I've had with my good friend ctgreddy (his username on here) and this Saturday will be our final run of the season. Since our last run he had switched from the ported/pullied eaton + 75 shot to a Kenne Bell running 19 psi, and I've bumped my shot to a 125 over the previous 100. Last time bottle to bottle we were dead even! Now with me on the larger shot and him with the KB what do you guys think? Personally I think he will pull me by about a car. Remeber his car is a 03 Cobra with about 200 lbs of weight reduction and 3.73 gears. There will be a video to come. Place your bets

Thanks man! I'll be very surprised if he pulls 3 cars by the top of 4th, but regardless we will soon find out

Well a ported & pullied Eaton on 75 hit was probably making more torque than the KB unit will at 19 psi. Does he have headers or still running manifolds?

It's 2.8 KB, and yes he has the stock headers. He made like 650 rwhp & 550 rwtq, but he said that particular dyno varies all over the map so who knows. His old setup was like 550/600 on the nitrous, but on a different dyno so you really can't compare since dyno numbers don't always mean that much.

When he made the 550 rwhp on the old setup he ran a 600 rwhp KB termi and was slightly faster IIRC. And at that point he and I were a dead nuts race with me on the 100 shot. So I'm hoping it will be interesting with me on the 125 shot against his new setup

Can't wait man. Your car will be the test to see if the kb really helped any over the port/nitrous combo lol.

I'd be very surprised if the new setup wasn't at least just a tad faster, even if it's not much. So if it's "only" just a tad faster than the old nitrous/eaton combo then I might stand a chance, or otherwise I'm sure I'm in trouble lol

That 2.8 is going to under perform at his boost levels the PD blowers all have a sweet spot and until he's turning that thing where it wants to be turned 22+ psi (which I'm sure it was for future plans so no biggie) on pump the a smaller blower car will usually out perform the bigger blower on same boost

So you're saying it won't get into the boost as quick as it could since it's not really in its most efficient zone?

The issue isn't as much with building boost quick enough, the blower just wants to go and go. That's why on my dyno chart the hp keeps climbing so I have good peak numbers but until I do e85 and more boost I'm loosing a decent amount in the midrange compared to a 2.3/2.2 car. That's why I'm going into this expecting me to pull no more than a car.

Here's my graph so you can see what I mean.

It'll be a close race again. The port/nitrous set up is probably going to perform better then the kb on fairly low boost and stock manifolds

Damn I see what you mean Colin! That thing shows no tapering off whatsoever! This makes more sense now too

Kb setup should be much stronger as long as ct is willing to spin it.

You need a few changes to your own car. Then I would see no problem with outrunning him.

What changes hio?

One change I now need is my tune! Just found out last nite that my car has around 15 degrees timing in the mid range...not happy about that at all

Ditch the 4.10's for some 3.90's if you're running a stock height tire which it looks like you are.. If you're gonna spray drop back to 3.73's. Ported fast, lighter clutch, better headers, roller rockers........those are a given. They will make your car accelerate better....much better.

Don't be skeered to turn it to 7000 rpm.....maybe a bit more. What valve springs are you running? What's the cam like? Got a dyno sheet? 15* suck......3 words....tune tune tune.

Of course a little weight reduction never hurts.
