Default 4L60E tuning...

I'm on the fence on whether I'm going T56 or 4L60E in my build. So, I am looking at options. Once I purchase a built trans, what is the best way to go about tuning it? I see quite a few people using HP Tuners and EFI Live, but it seems fairly expensive to grab a tuner for $800 just to tune your trans. I've seen a few other using the MSD TCM when they use a Carb.

This is going into a 70 Nova, and will be behind a 5.3. Can whoever retunes my computer for the engine portion, also do the trans?

Thank you for the help.

I used a mail order tune from Vengeance Racing, (http://vengeanceracing.net/), when I went from a T56 to a 4L60E. While I do admit the tune most likely is not extracting the most out of my setup. The car does run and shift good with no drivability issues.

Yes your tuner can do that and driving is the best way to tune for your shift points and stall.
