nitrous and converter balooning
hello there, i have been tore up over the last couple of days trying to decide whether or not to ge a converter..the reason im considering it is becasue im doing headers right now..theyre on the way and i have my car jacked up a million feet in the air and no y pipe in the way so i can get at it pretty easy. Just cant decide if i can afford it. my question is..i have heard that for a small shot you really dont need a verter with a anti baloon plate. i run a 100 shot tnt and am thinking about degrading it to a 75 shot..not because of the 'verter deal just because it makes me nervous running the 100 with close to 75000 on the clock. is this true..dont bash me thats jsut what i have been told feel free to set the record straight or not. i have been keeping an eye on the pfs section and am still looking if anyones got a good one.thanks matt

colonel, you are the king, much thanks to you and your wealth of knowledge. at what hp shot does the balooning become a factor?.. also until i can afford a tune, will i be ok with tci3500 without removing the tq mangmt. i have read on 98-00 its really not a big factor. thanks again matt

Depending on what torque converter you are planning on using? If you are talking about a 9.5" lockup from P.I., or Yank, they are good for about 800 HP. The other 9.5" lockups will depend on what the company says. With any 12" lockups, the limit is about 450 HP, because of the shock on gear shift changes.

I spray a 100 shot on my TCI3500... So far I've went through about 3 1/2 bottles, & havent had any problems.. Just get the shift points changed. (Something I still have to do)
