VATS light still on after bypass, car starts fine
Did a search but couldn't find anyone with the same circumstances.
Bought the car recently and it runs fine even though the security stays on all the time. I ohmed the key and did the resistor bypass just to get the damn light to turn off. No luck. The funny thing is, even when the bypass is removed and the vats wire is unplugged from the wire going up the steering column, the car will still start.
So my assumption is the problem is with the vats "brain" itself. Now my questions are;
1. Can I just pull the bulb and call it good?
2. Is there still a chance this problem will leave me stranded or should i quit worrying about it?
3. What is the right way to fix this problem?

Well it seems you have a fault in the vats system that happened while the car was running. This turns on the light AND allows you to start it until you repair the fault. Could be a bad connection or the unit failed. Sorry I don't know much more info on it. You'll probably will be ok BUT I'd be worried if you ever pull the battery out. Use a 9 volt backup in the cig lighter to be sure you don't loose everything in memory that resets everything to defaults then it may not start.
I'm gonna guess the unit itself is bad.
