Default Stripping Chrome Wheels

I have some used wheels I purchased for track use, but they aren't the best in the looks department. The chrome is slowly peeling, etc. I want to know what my best option is for stripping the chrome away so I can paint them. A buddy of mine used Aircraft Remover to strip the paint off some wheels he had, but will this work for chrome too? Other options? Sandblasting maybe?

I would get them bead or media blasted. Sand might be to harsh.
