random 4L80E no gears or only some or one My 94 K2500 with the 4L80E randomly works. Some days only reverse works and you get no attempt to engage in any other gear. Some days reverse won't work at all but drive does and it will run through the forward gears perfectly and smoothly with no sign of slippage or problems with the trans internally or any noise from the trans. Other times reverse will work and eventually after it warms up a bit first will work and then it will go through the gears. Some days it makes no attempt to engage any gear. It acts as if you are still in park.
Proper fluid level, clean fluid and no sludge in pan, new filter.
Looking for some ideas on what to look for as possible sources of the problem.
