Roller Rocker install
Hey I just recieved my roller rockers and I am very lost when it comes to valve lash and preload, when i bought them I was thinking they would just bolt right on at 22 ft/lbs and i would be set from there but that is not what the directions they sent me say, can anyone lead me in the right direction with this?? thanks

What kind are they?
IF they are not adjustable ones, you do just bolt them down to 22ft/lbs
rotate the motor over 180* and recheck them.
IF they are adjustable, much more to it.

they are vortech aluminum roller rockers with a stock cam and stock heads, its the only valvetrain mod as of now, they are not adjustable. I was reading my haynes manual and it said you have to do them in a certain order with the piston tdc but i thought you only need to have the pistion tdc when changing valve springs?

Put em on and torque down to 22 Lb/Ft and then roll the engine over to recheck. That's it.

I'm thinking about a set of the Harlan Sharpe rockers, and was curious if they are just a '22 lb/ft' install or not. Were these Vortech rockers that way?

In general, the 1.7 rollers are pretty simple. If you install 1.8s like I did, or have milled heads, or don't use stock pushrods (7.400") then you end up having to check the valve lash. The instr on ls1howto are good. I expanded on them a little after I had problems. If anyone wants my tip sheet, shoot me a pm.
