Will stock 4l60e handle 4000 stall?
Will my 4l60e trans with a shift kit handle a fti 4000 hard hit converter? My car has cam heads and lid. How long should I expect it to last?

As long as you have a large aftermarket trans cooler on the car, you should be fine. A high stall converter actually softens the mechanical strain on the trans, but greatly increases the amount of heat produced.

My old rides 4l60e took a **** about 100 miles after my cam/intake/bolt ons swap. But my car also had 100k miles on it at the time that I cammed it. Ended up selling my brand new converter that I never had a chance to install, and put a th350 in the car. My new car still has the 4l60e in it. I've been debating back and forth on whether I should sell this 4l60e while it still is in perfect working order (car has 39k) and put a th400 in the car, or just keep hammering the 4l60e until it breaks.

you will be fine...I have a stock 60e running a FTI 3800 stall. As mentioned just make sure to use a good cooler and shift kit. Also get it tuned properly...I did my own tuning with HP tuners. I have only put about 2500mi since installing the converter and no issues yet. I only drive it 1500mi a year so it will probably last a while.
