Cruise control on my auto 2000 SS works for awhile then goes off. Will not reset immediately after it goes off. I will try later and it works. I read about the center brake light must work so the next time the cruise quits I'll stop and check light to see if there's a short. Anything else I can check?

Could be in the brake light switch. Have seen them going bad and send some feedback to the cruise that keeps the cruise from engaging.
