For electric cutouts, I think the biggest issue is exhaust leaking.

Are we talking electric cutout? If not, a downfall is that you have to get out and cap it when you dont want it loud, like if a cop is driving by. If it is electric, the there are maitenence issues. Sometimes they fall apart or break. Every couple of weeks you should get under the can and spray the bearings with WD-40 to clean and lubricate them.

It can get annoying if you're on a long road trip and your car has a cutout. The drone begins to make you head ache.

Cutouts don't really have any cons... Thats why they are such a great mod. Only cons I can think of are having to get under the car to put the cap on, some interior vibrations(depends where its mounted), I guess having to get it installed, might give you a head ache over time (mine never did).

Electric cut out is a plate that opens and closes the cutout electronically from the inside of the cabin, so you don't have to crawl under your car to open and close it.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

I think the LS1 sounds much better through a muffler, and this is coming from someone with an electric exhaust cutout. If you have a decent muffler, there's not a huge gain from the cutout. Between that and the exhaust leaks, I'm half tempted to ditch it.

Non elec cutout-
pros: Amazing sound while racing, increased power, great hp per dollar
cons: Raspy while cruising, drone on the highway, increased interior noises, pain to cap/uncap, black soot under car, etc.

Well Well worth it

Pro of my QTEC 11hp increase and 8 ftlbs on a near stock car
Con - slight leak, hard to tell it all the way open

In short I am very happy with my electric cutout and it has saved my but with the cops on numerous occasions.

the cutout does get annoying. thats why i got the electric one. but it leaks when it is closed and it already under service warranty. sounds great open but gets closed on the highway. yeh it doesnt sound as good as borla or lm but it picked up 7 hp and 10tq over my stock ws6 exhaust. also you absolutely cannot beat the price.

well lol i went ahead and bought it.. it cost me 35 to get it.. and 30 to put it on. i hate having to pay for install... lol. it sounds like a bat out of hell. i like the sound and it seems like its a little faster.. im gunna get dyno results as soon as i get my LSX intake on.. see how much the cutout and LSX will add. i dynoed it awhile ago. 2 years. and it dynoed at 356 rwhp and 358 rwtq. thanx for your help guys.
