27" tire w 4:33..OR 28" w 4:56.. Looking for real world!
Well ive been on the fbody gear calculator a bunch of times and looking for some input from people who have similar setup.
My car is a ltx 11:5:1 355 puts down 375/390..peak hp is @ 6480rpm.CC503 cam and bottom end has 6" hbeams in it. Currently have best pass of 11.86@115 w @ 1.65 60' sparying 75 shot.. current setup is moser 12 bolt 4:11s 26" et streets... the tune is off on the car so i know it has more potential. I do need to change out the pinion bearing and i did buy some racestars.. so my dilemma is i need tires and have to open up rear end anyway.. just looking at whether 4:33 w 27" tire or 28: w 4:56 will be good. i do plan on spraying the car atleast 125shot at some point and worried i will run out of 4th on the big end. But the car is more a DD street car .. Just want the best of both worlds but i know i cant have both. i was leaning towards 27's and 4:33's but dont want to be dissapointed. thanks in advance

As you probably know from the calculator those 3 gear/tire combos have about the same overall ratio. From my reading a 28" tire will give the best traction with the 26" the worst. The 4.33/27" combo is a good middle ground as you can step up to a 28" to get more mph if needed. The LT1 pcm limit of 7k sucks too. 4.33/26" DR would whail on the street!
