Default Painting & Emblems Question

I decided to take off my factory Z28 emblems. I thought i would run into no problems. However after i got the eblem off and the adhesive there was a black ring of the outline i could not get off. On top of that when you saw the glare off the paint from the sunlight you could see where the emblem looked like it baked into the paint. They paint is not two different colors but it looks like it had been on there first and was then painted over. Can this be buffed out or repaired without repainting i paid a good bit for the new emblems and would like to still use them. I assume that because they have been on there for 6 years this was to be expected any help would be great.

It will come off, I would suggest a couple good washes and some meguiars scratch remover, followed by a nice coat of wax. I had the same problem with my rear emblem and now its not visible.

Use some 3M adhesive remover. Also, how old is your car? Mine was an '02 with 7K miles and always garaged, so I never ran into the fading problem from the sun like you have.
