2002 Trans Am

Anyone who was questioning the performance gains of the SS line of converters, because we haven't seen too many time slips from them, well look no further.

Went to the track today, and my previous best was a 13.14 but I had been running consistent 13.20s, my first run of the day, 1st time ever out with a converter and I turned in a 12.54 with a 1.84 60ft
2nd run 12.52 with a 1.82
3rd run 12.51 with a 1.83
4th run 12.52 with a 1.82
5th run 12.49 with a 1.84 got into the 12.4s baby!!!!!
Gained a consistent .7 with the converter

I didn't change anything all day, I just wanted to get a feel for the converter, I know there is more out there. My expectations had been exceeded and I am looking for more now. I am expecting to get 1.7s and 12.2-12.3s with it. MPH all day was very high 108s and very low 109s

Here was my setup for the day. 3680 race weight (same as usual, lost a little from converter swap), launching from 2400-2700, BFG drag radials at 19psi (started with 19, figured I would finish the day at 19) next time at the track I plan to bring that down a little and try different launch techniques.
Oh yeah I sorta had a cutout too my intermediate pipe kinda of disconnected from the over the axle pipe but that was on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th run. So I guess the extra flow took care of the rising tempatures

Here are my mods: Obviously Yank SS3800 converter, 2.73 gears, BFG drags, lid/filter, FTRA, ported tb, QTP headers with catted Y pipe, corsa catback, Cartek tuning, global west SFCs, 3680 race weight and thats it!

I am pretty happy with my numbers

Nice numbers man, when i'm ready to get a new converter i'm looking at this one and posibally the TCI SSF3500.

I don't think you could go wrong with the SS line, its so damn tight its ridiculous!!! I wish I went with a 4000 now

and according to a lot of other people, the TCI is one helluva converter too, so I think you'll be extremely happy with either setup

i went from 13.3's to 12.7's with the ssf3500...i wish i had gone bigger now that ive got the cam...i could see the ssf3800 clicking off about the same times as the ss series...but good times none the less w/ those 2.73's.

Wow that is a nice gain. I just ordered the SS3800 and I was hoping for at least a .5sec drop. I'm runing 3.73 gears but have a bit more weight than you. I like the fact that the stock converter is 52lbs and the SS3800 is 29 lbs, like adding a lightened flywheel on a standard.

2.73 cars really respond well to a high stall TC. I'm glad your happy with your results. Most people think about gears first, but a good TC is the way to go.

Nice work man. My car put down the exact same numbers the other night, but I was able to manage a 1.77 60'. The weather was very humid so I know the car can go faster than it did.

By the end of the summer I am looking to cut 250lbs off the car, and get into the extremely high 11s

I'm not to heavy I'm a convertible With me in it the car weighs 3500lbs it's not getting stripped just to run a few tenths faster.......I have some new mods now adjust for me "heaviness".

I cut low 1.6's with my SS3800, while that's OK it's not good enough to run really low times. That converter doesn't like N20 either. Overall I would have to say I was disappointed in it. I cut 1.5's with my vig 3200 and now I'm cuting 1.4's with my Precision TH-400 converter.
