shift kit & converter...shift kit will make your shifts crisper at least...the converter with a decent shift extension will keep the motor in its powerband instead of dropping the rpms down so much.

having your torque mngt deleted will help it shift firmer.

a converter is easily the best mod for an auto.

only thing is the converter will "sponge" up your shifts a little bit. but the shift kit will help a lot.

Get a hand held programmer like the Predator.

If you get a high stall and do alot of low rpm street driving, it will. The converter sliups alot and heats up. HEAT-VERY BAD FOR TRANNY. Also, if you're planning on using a high stall, save and get a good tranny too. Stock 4L60E's don't last ;ong and when the tranny goes, 99.9% it will take your $450 converter with it. METAL-BAD FOR TRANNY! Call Jim Pace PP and ask about a Hughes. Got mine for $1600 and good for 700+hp with a 2800 stall for my wifes IMP SS

Yep, a converter is one of the first mods to do. And get a tranny cooler.

How do you like that rollbar? Was it a pain in the butt to install?

Love the rollbar. I get alot of compliments with it.

I have the bolt-in and it was very easy to install. The hardest part was cutting the plastic for the covers.

Just reduce the time values in your PCM shift
adaptation time tables. Badda bing. This is
where the problem resides.

If you are going to stuff around with shifts in your V8 powered LS1 I would recommend getting it rebuilt or toughened up. You can go to 0.3-0.4 seconds for shifts in a stock 4L60E but thats it. It will cark it down the track if you go any quicker without some mods for reliability.

Yes, a converter will work. However, consider a diff ratio change if you havent already. The stock converter is really tight and so will not slip much. Its your diff gears that will determine your shift extension with a stock conveter.

Everything else said here hold true. Itys a qwuestion of what you want out of your car.

Do your care about reliability?
Do you just want a track warrior?

How can you modify your tranny with that? What´s best, shiftkit or a Predator?

Think about it. You increase the final drive to increase tractive effort and increase the revs at a nominated speed. So to travel @100kph in 3rd with 3.46 diff you will rev at approx. 2050rpm. For 3.73 its 8% higher.

At WOT with a stock (tight) converter it will tend to follow your gear ratios so a shift from 6000 to 3500 with 3.46 will now become 6000 to 3500x8% with 3.73 gears, or 3780.

Race converters are designed to slip so that the converter will take some load off the gears to bring it up to speed. You're riding the converter and diff and more converter slip will increase your SE but be more inefficient.

That's because they don't....at least not enough to matter. With a really tight converter it's much like a manual tranny in that the tranny ratios will determine your shift extension. Changing the rearend ratio is NOT going to help the SE of your converter very much at all. The only reason that it'll help at all is because the car is easier to accelerate with numerically higher rearend gearing (the ground speed is catching up with the RPMs quicker during the shift much like is the case when reducing weight.)

You want a higher SE? Install a higher stalling TQ converter. There really is no other effective way short of changing the internal gearing of the tranny.
