Signature Series ATF. If you want to try it out, shoot me a PM. I can ship it to you for around the same price (or usually a little less) than you can pay for it retail. I use it in my SSS, which tows some and gets beat on pretty regularly, and it runs like a top. Also, I'm currently running the Torque Drive, that this fluid replaced, in my Trans Am, and my trans stayed plenty cool and shifted great. It was a cammed car with a 3200 stall and I wasn't exactly easy it either. lol

Yes. GM specifies what is in it; nothing more, nothing less.

It doesn't say "Dexron" on the label; it seems to be formulated for commercial trucks.
Lots of people here (and I) use synthetic Dexron VI, which is now recommended by GM, but I have not seen a single claim that it works better than Dexron 3. Its probably better for 100K mile fluid changes, but I suspect everyone here changes more often than that. Look on Amazon for "Dexron 6 Gallon". Its $24 for AC Delco brand.

Since dropping/draining the pan only gets about 4-5 quarts out and the trans/converter holds 12+, you may need to get a full flush done at a shop. This is a $2000 tool that intercepts the fluid to the cooler - it catches what comes out of the trans with the engine running and simultaneously feeds new fluid into the trans. Whether they use Dexron 3 or 6 really doesn't matter. You can also mix Dexron 3 and 6.

Dex VI.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=359231

And as far as brand, I've taken AutoZone "Coastal" to hell and back with a 4,300 stall in the AZ heat. 230F multiple times. Always bright red. Always smelled "proper". Dex VI is beast fluid.

Dex III is for M6s these days........

I've always used store brand and it's been fine but last time I switched to Castrol because it was on sale and the fluid looks a little better but the car drives the same.

Really just don't think it matters for the most part.
