Yeah yeah, I know, but 10-bolt build behind an A4

Yeah yeah, I know, but 10-bolt build behind an A4
So, my 10-bolt is actually holding up okay, but I need more gear to help with my loose converter and my wife is telling me no on spending any more money on this car right now. But I want to do something with the 10-bolt, so it's a cheaper alternative than buying a new rear.
I already have a TA Aluminum Rear Girdle and am planning on grabbing the Italian-made Motive 3.90s with the Motive install kit. I have a Circle D 2E which hits fairly soft to keep the pressure off the 10-bolt, but I'd like to get rid of the 145k mile Torsen differential and move to either a TrueTrac, Eaton Posi, or Auburn Pro-Series.
Anybody have any insight as to which would work better? This is mostly a street toy, but I do autox and drag race too. So having a differential that works all around isn't a bad thing.
I've heard the Auburn Pro-Series is much better than the standard Auburns, which are pretty much crap in the 10-bolt. Also, it works well going straight and in a turn. I know TrueTracs are Chinese made and don't seem to be super stout either (but are the cheapest of the 3), and work well in road course situations but less than ideal in a straight line. And then there is Eaton, the most expensive of the three, and possibly the best in a straight line and worst in a corner.
Any suggestions?

Hey Dude !
I have the Stock 10 bolt 7.625" 28 Spline on my 2001 Camaro Z28 AUTO4 with YANK4000 stall and I am running the LSX454+Cam+125 shot of NITROUS.... here is how the rear holds up for me...
-ALLOY USA axle shafts
-ARP Chrome molly 2.5" wheel studs
-YUKON Posi with 4.10 gears
-Royal Purple gear oil
its all on Ebay with free shipping, WAY cheaper than upgrading to a 12 bolt or 9" ford,
I hook hard and pull wheel stands, the rear end is strong and healthy, Hope this helps out some if your looking to keep your stock rear end, these upgrades make it Strong Dude

ARP studs are in as is RP 85W140 gear oil.
I am leaning toward the Eaton/Yukon Posi because they are pretty tough. And the Alloy USA axles I've never heard of, but they seem cheap. The Moser axles for the 4-ch are like $320. These seem to be like $100 less. Do they work with the 4-channel stuff since you have to press those onto the shafts and they have to be machined for it? They only have one PN for the 10-bolt so I'm thinking no...
Hmm...
TA Performance Girdle & Stud Kit
Motive 3.90s
Moser C-Clip Trac Control Axles
Eaton Posi
Ratech Deluxe Install kit (comes with Timken bearings it seems - complete deal for the axles as well)
ARP Wheel Studs
If that can hold 450rwhp through an A4 with Nitto drag radials, I'd be happy. Plus I'll build it in my garage and set it up right. But it also seems like I'd be pissing away money.

I don't know what all that will cost you, but try finding a moser 9/12 core if your on the fence
I originally got mine for $1,300 (core)and after gears and new wheel bearings I was just under 2k for a bullet proof rear
Still a lot cheaper than 3k+ for a new one, plus I could build it in increments and didn't shell out everything at once

Yeah... price on that ends up being like 1300 when you factor in what I already have. But that's if I do new axles and the Eaton Posi. TrueTrac would lower the price some more.
I really wish these things came with 12-bolts. Then a list like that one would make a pretty strong rear for a reasonable price.

Any word on the differential differences in a 10-bolt?
Yukon DuraGrip is the same as the Eaton and is cheaper and has a rebate now making it an even better deal. Still, the TrueTrac is cheaper by a few bucks. I'm still leaning to the Yukon/Eaton Posi design.

Btw, Summit has the Yukon for $471 with a $35 mail in rebate and $45 in summit bucks to be used on your next purchase. So it's like getting $70 off...
In an M6, I wouldn't bother. Nor would I spend money on a frankenstein 8.8.
Just grab the Strange S60. It's cheapest of all aftermarket rears. And probably the most beastly. Get it with an S-Trac tho.

Guys! Save up n buy an S60, all ur doing is band aiding a 10 bolt... yeah it sucks not having a bullet proof rear now, but y waste hard earned $ on a rear that WILL break no matter what parts u throw at it! JUST SAVE UP FOR A S60! Trust me!
