im gonna take a peek inside my valve covers and make sure everything looks strait. is the gasket reusable or do i need to get new ones? also is it a lot of crap to take off i never really paid attention to it. is it like a 5 min job or what?

Reuse the old ones unless their torn. Removing a VC is pretty straight forward, all you'll need is a 10mm to do the job.
