Default ~ Gay Horn ~

I have had a 87 IROC, a 89 IROC , a 94 T/A and now I have my 01 Z28 & 98 SS and I must say I hate having to use my horn whos idea was it to give it such a gay horn. I mean all that mean power and that mean look coming down the road then someone cuts you off and its toot toot there goes my manly hood, guess i will have to put a different one in. How easy is that anyone done it yet or are we all dealing with it.

make sure both horns are working...my car has the same problem, the lower note is not functioning so i hit the horn and get a nice feminine high pitched toot.

My 01 Z28 definately has a higher pitched horn than my '71, but it's nowhere near as gay as some other cars horns on the roads today. Have you ever heard a horn on a sedan or any import car? Now those are gay. I agree with the others though. Just get a cutout and open it.

My roommate's Miata horn...now that's gay sounding. Ours aren't near as bad. They sound like the truck and SUV horns to me.

I couldn't stand it either, so I went out to AutoZone, and picked up some high decible horns. I've never worked on a car before this point, and it only took me maybe 45 minutes to do both. They worked great for awhile, but now they sound all warbly, so I'll be getting some new replacements one of these days. .... Maybe even an air horn. LOL

I have a 04 Sierra with a wimpy-sounding horn,too...have to check to see if they're both working.

Yep. I have the same problem. My lower-note horn doesn't work, so all I get is a single-noted feminine "Toot! Toot!" sound. It drives me crazy, and therefore I never use my horn. It's the gayest-sounding horn I've heard on the road. Even worse than most Japanese horns.

I picked up a replacement low tone horn at a Discount Auto parts when I went to install it it was the exact oem horn. The dealer wanted like $40 got it for $11. Now I'm not embarrased to honk at people. When these go out I'm getting an air horn!!!!

Get a horn(s) from a 95 Cadillac DeVille. It sounds like a tugboat, it'll really confuse the other drivers.

I'm depressed about my horn too. Even on my old '96 vette the horn was gay. I think its time to get an air horn and just make everybody go def.

Griots garage sells some really LOUD horns (118db). HELLA makes them and they sell for $70.

I never use the horn on my cars. I don't even know what they sound like. I think I'm gonna remove them to save some weight.

a couple years back I had an Ford Escort for the winter- gayest horn ever- I did just what you said- installed a Semi air horn. When I'd honk people would jump out of their skin!
