Default What is LS1 edit?

Is Ls1 edit a handheld programming device like a hypertech or a diablo, or is it something different? Is it the best? if not what methods do you guys reccomend for tuning?

Ls1 Edit is the best. It is not a hand held programmer like the Diablo or Hypertech. It is a custom tune computer program. You need to use a lap top computer connected to your diagnostic port. This is normally done by a Pro at a shop on the dyno. Cost varies. I paid $360, but have seen people charge $550. So far it is the best mod I have done.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best. But it is extremely good. However, there are some competitors out there now.

HPTuners and so forth.

LS1Edit can be had new now for $450 just by doing a survey.

Get it done on the dyno with A/F Ratio. You can adjust timming and A/F to get max HP. Also eliminate Skip shift, EGR, Rear o2's, TQ management, etc.,

Can you use it to tune the car without the use of a dyno? I'm a little fuzzy on what a tune is exactly. I'm not trying to steal the thread here, but it's related at least. All I know of it, is that everybody say's it's one of the most important parts. Will a tune improve HP/TQ for a car that has only a lid and exhaust? Thanks.

Yes you can tune your car without having it on a dyno.

You can tune it to squeeze all you can out of your exhaust, but it's pretty expensive for just the small gains you would get from just an exhaust.

People usually wait unti they do a cam or heads or other big HP mods.
