I know that the cheapo's are 165R15's, but is there any brand that's better? also i found that some have an SR speed rating and some a TR speed rating. I just wanna know what kind everyone is using.

thanks

Does it really matter?

I don't think you need to worry about the speed ratings. Speeds ratings on a tire are applicable to long sustained runs @ certain speeds, not short 1/4 mile blasts.

The thing I never liked about the VW radial tires is that they were never designed for a heavy (compared to a VW, even Colonel's car is heavy) car such as our F-bodies. They always look like they're plat, even with 40+ psi in them. If you're not after every last bit of weight savings a skinny front tire can offer, check out the M/T Sportsman fronts. They have one with stronger sidewalls designed for heavier cars. They aren't as light as say a M/T ET Front, but definately lighter than the stock setup...

Just bought a set of Cooper Sport somethingorothers for $36/ea from Billingsley Racing. Said he had 3 sets coming in. Not sure of weight or speed rating.

MT Sportsman's are bias-ply aren't they?

They have 4-ply and 8-ply for heavier cars.
