Well that cam was designed for stock head 346 LS1s. You don't have an ideal cam for your engine combo.

What's a "good" set of heads? What size valves? What's your static compression ratio? What are the flow #s?

There's really no way to guess an average. However, most people use 1.4hp/CID, so:

1.4hp/CID * 382 CID = 534 HP (crank) * 15% drivetrain loss = ~450 RWHP

It fell on its face 410 should be 510 with all the **** done to it, going to build a 382 and spray 300 or what ever I need to spray to get 800rwhp. You should be happy with your hp, very nice and only go up from there. Well mabey not, I went from 445 to 410 with heads and 90mm LSX + 90mm TB. Go figer.

I'm not a cam designeer but you definately need to get in touch with any of the tuners at the right, Futral, MTI, LG, etc to get a custom spec cam to your goals. An off the shelf grind will not give you the #s you want.

Was the car dyno tuned? If so, was there any KR, etc?

Too little info to really help you out very much.

Yes it was dyno tuned, no kr at all, I had the heads done by a local porter and he said he ls1 experance, he messed with the combustion chamber to much and got ride of the point between the valves. Now I find out that if touch the chamber you lose the swerial and hp.

Can you send me the dyno graph so I can post it? lprocter@alltel.net

Did you get flow #s on the heads? Were the heads milled any? Is the valvetrain setup correctly?

the heads were milled .010, I had Xtrem motor sports put the heads on so it should be right. I used h/s rockers. The heads have 2.08/1.06 and @ 600 lift they flowed 335 and 230. On the dyno the curve started to drop 6300.

Did you flow the heads independantly? What tranny?

You should be in the 450-470 range with that cam if the heads really flow in that range.

If it's falling off big time, it could be lifter issues, valve float, etc. The dyno graph could help us out.

Any updates, you should be able to hit 450 with decent heads and a moderate cam.

way way too many variables. you need a full breakdown for us to even get a picture of what is going on. those flow numbers sound outragous, not saying it isnt so, but if it wer true, then a big cam could easily push that motor to high 490 rwhp if it is a manual tranny.

I have 480rwhp..10.5:1..M6 all heavy stuff and no dyno tricks...your heads should get you 500rwhp..since mine only flow ~310cfm@.600
242/250 .595/.595 109 ..get the G5X3 or one like mine...still not enough..

I made 455 RWHP and 438 RWTQ with a Lunati Stroker kit and a decent set of ls1 heads and a X1 cam. It drives and idles like a stock car.

With a set of the AFR's and a bigger cam plus a 90mm Intake i could make 500 RWHP easy.

EASY!
