Default I need help with head and cam selection (pretty please)

I am curious about what peoples head and cam combos are yeilding on stock bottom ls1's.

Here is what I have
1999 ls1 mac midlengths
12 bolt 4.10 gears
lid and no cats

I would like to see this car run in low 12's possibly 11's with very mild manners
I have options to use a set of 5.3 heads and a set of stock heads. I would like to get some port work and a mild cam, I want good power from this car but don't want to sacrifice drivability (road trips).
What is the max lift you are allowed with a stock headed combo, What would be allowable on a 5.3 combo. I do not want to run into and valve interference problems.
Sorry about all the questions This is my first ls1 project and I am very anxious to move on it. Thanks again guys.

You could probably do low 12's with nothing but some slicks and a good clutch with what you have thus far. However, for 11's I'd do like the above msg says.. budget heads, tr220 or larger depending upon your tolerance for a rough idle. You could actually just ditch the heads all together and do high 11's cam only with a number of cams. My favorite being the FM13.

Peace,
Josh

Do you have specs on that cam? I want to be able to run it with the nittos that are on it right now. I just want my car to be able to somwhat repeat what it does on the strip on the street. Maybe this could be a plan. I was just looking at prices for retainers and springs, ouch they gouge you on every little bit for these cars. So far the car has run a best of 13.26 at 105.

Its going to be tough to go 11s on Nittos with a 6spd and keep "mild manners" You either need lots of power, a great launch, or both.
