Default Manley springs/retainers

The Manley springs/retainers that came with my cam package come with a warning label that states- "It is *Highly* recommended to chamfer the spring ID for proper retainer clearances using tool #xxxx". The retainers come with the same warning.
How many of you guys had to 'prep' your springs before you installed them? Or did you? I hate having to buy those surprise tools to finish a job (and I have a pretty well-stocked tool box).

Thanks.

Default

I did not prep them. I test fit a retainer to the spring and everything looked good to me.

Since then I have almost 10,000 miles on them...no problems.
