Default TR230/224 110 LSA in A4 car Impossible?

I've heard so many conflicting stories about a 110 LSA cam in an auto car is not worth the trouble and etc. Some don't have any (or few) issues while others have nearly tossed them in the trash because they are impossible to get to idle in gear or whatnot.

I've already purchased a TR230/224 110LSA cam for my 2002 Camaro which happens to be an A4 trans car. I'll also be running MAC headers and a Yank TT2800 converter (until I can go higher ). Are the 110 LSA cams really impossible to get to work in an Auto car like most seem to think? I will have LS1 Edit for tuning but all the speculation has me concerned if I should just sell the cam before I get in over my head.

Ya know what, a couple of years back everyone was saying that more then 224 degrees at 50 wasn't worth it either. Now look. If you have ls1 edit I say go for it. I am an m6 and have a 224 110lsa cam and don't have any problems with it. I also have ls1 edit. Can't you auto guys control your idle speed in gear? If so I don't see a problem with it. Alot of people will tell you it can't be done because they don't won't you to try it and figure out it works so they don't feel bad when they choose a smaller cam. Don't mean any harm but I think that has alot to do with it. If I had it to do all over again I would have chose a bigger cam then my 224 110lsa cam and I have 3.42s.

well i give you my 2 cents worth..

I have a A4 Vette....i purchased a 222/224 112lsa
(in the process of being installed)
i posted many threads on this issue.
Most of the guys came back with go with a 114 LSA
then the guys that did a 112 on there cars not just here say they said it will be fine, but go will a aftermarket Torque converter. Now going with a 110 LSA i don't think anyone will recommend this in a A4. What did they say who you bought it from??? I've talked to alot of tuners and they recommended me going with a 114 or custom grind 113 lsa. So moral of the story i have no idea about a 110LSA

The salesman at Thunder (Sorry, forgot your name) said the car will need gears (4.10's) and a HEFTY stall (4400+) to take full advantage of the cam. I'm not concerned with taking full advantage of the cam since the car has few mods. A fellow club member recommended the cam after I considered the LS6 cam. He made a good point and said after the LS6 cam, I'd want bigger later so go HUGE now! I thought why not, I'll give it a try but all the speculation has me slightly concerned. I hear people complaining about 112 LSA cams and mine is a 110 so I figure I'm either gonna make the naysayers eat their words or have a nice door stop.

I'm not opposed to raising the idle or anything, and I'm DEFINATELY not looking for a stock idle. I just want to be sure the cam will at least work and let my car run!

I guess there r ways around this (ex.collector plates)but i was wondering what you were thinking.
I'm hoping to pass a sniffer with 222/224 566/568 112. (this is what i have been told)

I have TR230 cam and ported heads in my ute.
I run a Vig 3200 and 3.73 gears.
It idles @ 1000 revs in gear and 1100 in neutral/park, any lower and there are issues with stalling etc.
I drive this thing everyday as it is my work truck. No problems.

I am still fighting to get my idle tamed a bit. Edit has the idle at 850 right now. I think i need to get it raised maybe to 900. I also may just need to drill my TB a bit more. i will eventually have it to my liking. My car idles very choppy, lopes like a bitch. It ahs died on me a couple of times, but that is what I am working on getting rid of. I say go for it. Get a good converter though.

i have a 230/230 on a 111 lsa in my auto. it isnt smooth but no real problem with stumbling or bucking anymore. i wouldnt accept a high idle rpm or the "cruise control effect." get it to a proven tuner to your right ------->
