Default ? about predator

Will predator install performance tune without first having the stock tune in the car? In other words, If I have a different modified tune in the car will the predator install it's perfomance tune and save the other modified tune or must I first have the stock tune? thanks

It will take the tune it first finds, as stock.
Then it will add timing advance to it, about
6 degrees base, and maybe mess some other
stuff around relative to what it finds. This
might be not so good if your existing tune is
all tweaked up.

But if you go through the custom tune drill,
you can make it load up the existing tune and
not push "install performance" stuff on top of
it, and be able to adjust from the original base
instead. This is probably more like what you
want (?).

Go check out the utilities that are (were?)
up on the diablosporttuning.com site and the
instructions there.

Are you sure jimmy? I was under the impression you HAD to intsall the performance tune to marry the Predator to your PCM before you could tweek anything? You know more about this than I do, but I thought....

I have Pred also. The tune that comes in it is made to work with a stock tune. But you do not have to put it in. You can tweek the tune that is in your PCM, stock or not.

It's my belief that if you use the custom utility
you do not have to "install performance". But
I'd take their word for it over mine. If it does
force you to install one time just to "get hitched",
then you'd want to go right ahead and "restore
stock tune" before driving / tuning on it, if the
base isn't stock.
