Default why does my 1/4 mile time suck?

I used a g-tech to get my times tonight and the best i could get was 13.42@106.5 ,2.27 60' and 0-60 in 5.03.

First i know i have a bad 60' time but still. Dont the g tech usually give you better than what u actually have?

That was the last of 3 times i did it so i know my car was hot and i had been driving it some.

The guy i borrowed it from ran 13.00@109, 2.10 60' and 0-60 in 4.89. He has a 99 T/A with a pulley and exhaust.

Considering the 02 are suppose to be better than the other i thought i would be a little closer to him. Could it just be that i cant drive? But the 60s are so close.

that sounds about right considering your 60' and crap tires, does your buddy have an auto or manual? the mph seems a bit high for the et but again that could be due to tires, one time I took my car down the track w/ street tires and putted off the line, spun 1st, 2nd, took my time then slowly got back on it in 3rd, ran a 14.xx @ 107, get some good tires and the mph will stay about the same but the et's will DROP

And next time, try to use something a little more accurate, like a track timing system.

one question about your mods: did you install 3.42s? Because you either have 3.23s or 2.73s on an A4.

and to your original question: that sounds about right...because my first trip to the track with the same mods you have minus LS6 intake I ran a 13.4 @ 106...but then got it down to 13.1 @ 105 with a better 60'

i would be content with the times except he has a 99 t/a that runs a 13 flat with only the mods i listed. His is an A4 also. He used to have a camaro and he said it was faster than his t/a (it was an 01) Thats my main point you have a 99 also. I know its the same motor but from looking on here i expected my car to at least be as fast as the 99 if not a lil faster. Everything i see on here says the 01-02 are extremely quick.

Yes i installed the gears myself along with am aluminum driveshaft. What Fun.

I also got beat by the mach again. He got me from the start again. I am having to learn my car all over again because it has never had a posi unit untill i installed it yesterday. He got me from the start and pulled a car link then when he hit second he pulled another car link and stayed there.

He has a Mac X pipe, ORYP, Diablo programming, and a few other things.

I was hoping to stay a little closer. Again i understand i still am not the best driver.

I will be going to the track soon i wanted to get my car hooking posi and learn how to drive fairly well first.

Thanks for the help.

sorry to depress you but i have owned a 98 99 and01 ls1 my 98 was the fastest stock the 99 have a bigger cam than the 01 but not the ls6 intake.
on average there should be no difference in stock performance. just different drivers and air qualitys with the exception of the few factory freaks out there

Maybe he did just get a factory freak, I am going to let him drive it today and see what he can get.

It's a car length, not a link.

...and don't be disappointed by your car's performance or by getting beat by a Mach 1. They run pretty well. Just get the car to the track to get some baseline numbers then start modding it. Tires, full exhuast, and a tune will wake up the car a bit.

he might have a strong one, but factory freaks break 12's stock. mine is no freak but definaly stronger than average.
btw, keep in mind you are using a freaking g-tech so dont form any real opinions until you get it to a realy track.

There are many factors to determine your time. 13.4 isn't bad, especially on the street, streets don't hook. Its 90 and high humidity here today, if I went to the track i'd run a 13.4. I ran my 13.00 with bad 60' in 40 degree weather and low humidity. As far as the factory freaks go, look at where they were run, what time of the year, air density ect. If I were to run at Atco in new jersey, 50' above sea level on a 30 degree winter day i'd be well in the 12's with only an air lid and catback/cutout.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Dont know where i got link from lol thanks. I know machs are bad, he beats everyone there except that t/a. I suppose the t/a is just really fast. It is hot here too, I live in MS so its like 94 and the heat index is 99.
He ran his time a while back and it wasnt near this hot.

What my real concern was is i have heard the gtech is usually .2 faster than u actually run which would put me at 13.6
