Default is there such a thing as cheap and decent heads?

the only heads I've seen in the $300 range have been used ones on e-bay. and every new set of heads is being listed at $600 at the lowest. am I Completely missing an obvious source, or is my expectation of $300-$400 heads unrealistic?

I'd say its somewhat unrealistic. Are they going on your fiero and you're trying to stay in that 8k range? I hope you find some but it will be hard to find some heads in that price range. Good luck

If the heads are on ebay for that price, I'd be scared. Heads aren't a place you want to skimp on when doing a motor. If your looking for stock LS-1 heads just search the for sale forums around here. There usaully listed for 200-300 bucks. If your looking for ported heads, look up Patriot performance. You can get some ported LS-1's for $999.

Yeah, don't skimp on spending the money on the heads. I would also recommend the Patriot heads also.

the only thing your going to get in those price ranges are stock heads, a basic ported head will run 1k+ minimal.

thanks for the replies. I'll probably end up going with stock heads now, then wait a while after my project is done before upgrading to ported ones.
