Default Paging all of you with HP lightning rims....

What are you guys doing to keep your rims clean? What type of cleaners are you using?

How is the maintenance....

I have finally decided upon a set of 18x9's all around. I know guys said to go with 19s, but from the pictures I saw, I liked the look of the 18s more.

I will have pics as soon as I have them mounted.

Thanks guys...

Also, is it worth while to have the rims road force balanced? How difficult is it with 18" rims?

you should see the 18s in person before ordering them. They really do not look good, they look like shallow lipped hubcaps or something. They do not have nearly the deep lip of the 19s.

In fact, I wouldn't recommend those 18s to any of my friends, there are far better looking 18" wheels out there.

I just use soap and water on mine, they are clearcoated and do not require polishing.

here are some comparison photos. The gray car has 18" versions, mine has the 19s. Notice how small the 18s look, and they don't look wide enough for these cars. Notice the huge difference in lip depths also.

I understand what your saying, but I really didn't like the look of the 19" wheel with the short sidewall of the tire...

The difference in lip size between the 18x9 and 19x9.5 isn't that dramatic. According to HP, it is only .25" due to the backspacing difference.

I've seen the 18s and like them.... What can I say....

Nineball.... my question to you is, are those the 18x8s or 18x9s. The people at HP told me that they only recently started selling the 18x9s due to the demands from the domestic crowd.

Not sure if that is what makes the difference.

I will make certain to post pics once I have them mounted.

Thanks for your honest input and help.

the ones shown above are 8s. I've not seen the 9s on a car yet, hopefully they look better. I know the 8s look like cheap hubcaps without the deep lips. Maybe your 9s will look better (hopefully)

I have seen that gray car that nineball posted for the 18" example in person here locally and I agree, the rims are just too narrow and don't look that great. Maybe a 9" wide version would look better, but I much prefer Tony's 19's.

Well, I am eating my words now. I got an 8 week run-around from HP about the availability of the 18x9s. Everything from they are no longer making them due to lack of interest, to they can't keep up with the demand and every shipment that comes in fills backorders only.

Since I liked the style so much, I just decided to go with 19x9.5s like everyone said. I found a great deal on a set of 275/30/19 Michellen Pilot Sports, so that's what will be mounted on the rims.

I went with the hyper dark finish since my car is pewter and I have a pewter/black scheme going on, they should look pretty good, at least I hope.

Tires will be here tomorrow, and rims will be here Wednesday. I hope to have pics up by the weekend.

Be sure to get us some pics. I would like to see what these look like on your car.
Where did you order your rims from?

Nineball... those pics sold me on going with the 19s. They look so good on the pewter T/A that I had to do the same. I ended up going with the hyper dark, so we'll see how that looks.

You'll love the 19's! That's my buddies TA and he gets compliments everywhere he goes. For more pics of it check out the latest GMHTP. It's featured along side my 94 Z28.

Last night I went to try and find it and had no luck. I tried Waldenbooks in the mall, 7-11, Wawa, CVS, Rite Aid and still no luck. I wonder if Circuit City or Best Buy carries it.

The website lists Advance Auto Parts as the newsstand location, but there isn't one within 30 miles of me. I might try Walmart tonight. They usually have a huge selection of magazines.

To everyone asking where I got the rims from, I'm waiting to get the rims and talk to the seller. I got an 8 week run around and ended up switching to a bigger rim and tire and lots of headaches, so I'm not sure I would recommend him, but he swears he is going to take care of me, we'll see.
