Default M6er who just ordered a '02 Z28 A4. Help point me in right direction.

I currently have a '99 Z28 M6 with Lid, FTRA, FLP headers, Borla exhaust, and a TNT wet kit. My best on the motor was a 12.75 @ 108.12, on the nitrous was an 11.67 @ 121.63 mph. I'm in the process of selling my car but I'm keeping my mods for my '02 Z28.

I got the A4 for many reasons. First of all...ETs! Second, my '99 is on it's fourth clutch, 3rd rear and 2nd tranny! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> But still the first engine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Finally, I've had my fun banging gears and I'd rather have the auto do it for me.

I ordered a stripper for the lighter weight. The only option it has is the 3.23 gears.
All I know about the A4s is from what I have read on ls1.com over the years. I have a little catching up to do on the terms. For example, what does the YTP stand for in YTP 4400? What about YPT or the E in 4400E, or ST, or ET phone home?
(TP = Thruster Pro???, Y = Yank, etc. ???)

Basically, I want to do things better this time around. I'd like to run high 11s on the motor with just bolt ons and a stall. Not break so many parts this time. Etc. I'd also like to keep the car somewhat streetable. It won't be my daily driver for very long but I'd still like to take it out for drives on the weekends and nice days.

So, I need a little help choosing a stall to go along with my mods from my '99 to help get me towards my goal. Also, any opinions/advice would be very helpful, such as preventive mods like a rear end cover, LCAs or a 160 thermo. Stuff like that.

Thanks,
Derrick

Very impressed by Yank's website. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
The thing I have to decide is, do I get the Pro Yank 3600 Extreme for my crack habbit or do I stay all motor this time and go with the 9" Pro Thruster 4000.

It sounds like the 3600 will be more streetable but what type of gains would I see with this converter on motor only? (If I do spray, it will only be a 75 shot and I won't spay every trip to the drag strip.) I definitely want to run high 11s on the stock motor. I guess the other thing I have to consider is the 3.23s. I'm not sure which converter, if either of them, would go better with the 3.23s.

....... Yea, me too! it is very helpful in getting the info out to the masses.

....I would vote for the N/A route. Nitrous is anathema to A4's. Espcially spraying during shifts. BAD, Bad, bad.

It sounds like the 3600 will be more streetable but what type of gains would I see with this converter on motor only? (If I do spray, it will only be a 75 shot and I won't spay every trip to the drag strip.) I definitely want to run high 11s on the stock motor.
.....Well the 3600 will be about a 10th slower comparitively. The TP will add about 200 to your normal driving take off from a light RPM's over the extreme converter. I would recommend the Thruster Pro over the Extreme series unless you REALLY plan on using the nitrous a LOT.

With I guess the other thing I have to consider is the 3.23s. I'm not sure which converter, if either of them, would go better with the 3.23s.

....Thats reallly a non issue. Not much difference there. BTW, good choice on the M6 to A4 swap. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Yup way to go with the 'dumbass mod', now all you have to do is put your foot down and hold the wheel straight. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

i like video taping the M6er's in the mirror while going down the track <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

but get a 4400 stall..

if i had a yank thats what i would have... light car/4400 stall/headers and easy 11's NA

i just have a small viggy3600 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I've been on ls1.com long enough to see what the fast A4s are using...Yank 4400 mostly. I don't think I'd hold traction very well if I went with that converter and sprayed the car. Also, how streetable would the car be with that converter. Remember, I'm still going to drive the car on the streets more than I do at the track but it's just not going to be a "daily" driver. So, I'm willing to sacrifice some drivability but I don't know if the 4400 would be too much?

A ST3800 will 60' close to a PT4400 and it will hold a shot of nitrous better as well...just don't expect it to beat a Pro Thruster 4400 equipped F-Body from a roll though...those things are wicked. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> They're also pretty loose.

Well I have some ideas for now. I'll dyno my car after I put the lid, FLPs and Borla on. Then I'll make my decision after that. I'm leaning toward the Yank PT 4000. Thanks for the info. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Good choice on the M6 to A4 swap... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Yep.

A couple ideas I have about spraying. First of all, what if I stay with just the 75 shot? Secondly, if I set the top of the window at, say 5800, but I have my shift points set at 6000, wouldn't this avoid spraying through the shifts?
I'm not sure where to set the bottom of the window, though. If I go with the 3600Extreme and set the window at 3800, wouldln't that be safer than setting the window around 3400 or 3600?
I'm trying to be as conservative as possible, if there is such a thing with nitrous.
