Default Momo Steering Wheel is In!

I'm well into my diet and finished up the Steering wheel mod. The stocker weighed in at only 9lbs and the MOMO Competition is 3lbs, so a 6lbs savings. Not a lot, but it all adds up. I think it looks better and feels better as well.

Here are a few pics of the new wheel installed.

Congrats it looks good. I ordeesd a Sparco wheel a couple days ago. A dealer in LA said it would fit no problem on a Momo hub. I hope that is true. I am looking very forward to the install

The Competition is actually one of MOMO's cheaper wheels, but it's not cheap at $180 or so. Then you'll need the Hub for like $40. I could just have easily went with a cheaper Grant, but I'll keep my car forever so I put the best on my car whatever it costs.

The install is pretty easy. Remove the airbag by the four bolts behind the wheel. Remove the nut on the steering column and you'll need a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off. The Momo hub I had wouldn't quite fit in the plastic steering console so I opened it up just a bit with my die grinder and it slipped right in. There was no need to cut off material away from the Hub or anything like some said they had to do. Then it's just a matter of wiring the Momo horn up and bolting it in.

Pain:

Yes that toolbox is $12000 alone! Unfortunately it's not mine, but a mechanic of the family Biz. God only knows how much the tools are worth in that thing. It's always nice to have a mechanic around that knows EVERYTHING in case you get hung up on something.

Looks nice. My brother has a Sparco wheel on a Momo hub in his Z28 but he did have to 'shave' the back of the hub a little bit so it wouldn't rub.
What did you do about the 'airbag light' that comes on after removing the stock wheel/bag?

gotta love this search function! removing my airbag now. Hopefully it sells on ebay.

I suppose I can pull the airbab light bulb out in the cluster so I don't have to stare at it?

HOW do I remove the passengers air bag?
