Head and Cam install in Cleveland Ohio area
I have a 2000 C5 and have a set of heads and cam coming I may try it myself but depending on price would rather have someone experienced either help or do it. Anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks

If you have the tools and room to do it and follow LS1 How To it's easy. I did mine in my driveway. A compressor helps to blow water out of the bolt holes. You should use a digital camera to take pictures of everything as you take the motor down. This helps in routing hoses and cables when you put it back together. How about an ASP underdrive pulley and Rollmaster double adjustable timing set while your at it. You can even throw on a Meziere pump during reassembly. Start looking for some new tires as you'll probably spin the stock tires after your done.

I do not disagree I have a compressor and already got the new tires on. What I really need is to find a fellow motor head locally that knows more about it than me to help and have a Beer party and swap. Many years ago I did a lot of work like this but now quite rusty and maybe a few tools short. I also have LS1 edit so can bump idle.
Thanks
And I am looking for timing chain, oil pump and underdrives.

Wish I could help, I live in Cleveland. I can say I checked extensively in this area and no shop can do it. I ended up with JPR, not real happy with my H/C/forged engine and will have to have another rebuild soon. Liggenfelter is in Indiana too, but as mentioned APE is in Detroit and LS1Speed is close. I believe there's a shop in Kentucky too. I recommend NOT going to Stropes in PA.

New to the site but think I may be able to help you out. Got a friend that would be able to help you out [Hes the viper tech at Strongsville Dodge, also works on vettes and fbodys, he owns a 96 T/A 383 stroker] but he porbally wont charge much to help you out if anything do it in his garage, hes got the tools, hell be helping me on my 98. If anything Corvette Conspiracy in Cleveland is a good shop if u want a good shop to go to, there nmber is 216-641-2786, but wait to call them becuase i am also good friends with the head mechanic there and he may do it on the side for you alot cheaper then the shop would cost. If you have any questions go ahead and email me at AMERICNMSCLE98TA@aol.com

Have you tried Mallett Racing in Berea, Ohio? They only work on Corvettes. No Trans Am's allowed
I don't know anything about their quality (good or bad), I just know that the only thing they do is modify Corvettes.
Hope that helps,
Jim

I know them through Stainless Works, and your right, no T/A's or Camaro's. Victory Engines at 150th and Lorain offered to do mine in 2002, but they had never done a LS1 before so I didn't want to be a guinea pig. However, they may have worked on some by now. They are very well known in Cleveland for Ford and Chevy SBC.

I am right up the street from you in North Royalton. :burnout: Not too many shops that I know of for us LS1ers around here. Mallett is cool, but I imagine pretty pricey. Interesting that they do f-bods now, they practically laughed me out the door 3 years ago when I asked about a cam install. Anyway I have swapped my own cam/springs several times and I can lend a hand if you decide to DIY.

I would do it myself if I were you...head/cam installs usually run $750-$1500 depending on the shop, add in another $300-$600 for tuning and your looking at a very sizeable investment. It took myself and a couple of friends helping on and off 4 days at about 4-5 hrs a day to get it completed and about $50 in food if that. And really it doenst take a huge arsenal of tools to get the job done.

Is your car a stick car? If so, I can help you out with the tune. Auto's are very picky to get just right for Part Throttle.
I helped Viper get his car tuned.
The only thing, you will have to drive to Columbus. The dyno I use is on the west side, on West Broad steet.
PM me if you have any questions.
