Default Anybody getting a M6 to hold up for racing?

Anybody running a lot of hp getting a M6 to hold up for running the 1/4. I have gone through 6 rebuilds and my car is barely 2 years old and not a daily driver. I have run 3 11 second passes on one. The keepers on 3rd gear syncro keep cracking.

Anybody else killing trannies on a regular basis? Nineball???

Is there a good aftermarket tranny or parts available? I also road race, so i don't want to go auto.

Thanks.

Brad

The trick to having your tranny last is to make sure the clutch totally disengages. If it's hanging a little the syncro's will die fast.Mostly 3rd and 4th syncro's get killed first.

I agree, if your clutch is set up well you shouldn't have as many problems. Who knows how many 11 second passes I have made, no problems yet.

AAAAAAh! the beauty of the LT1 tranny. I wish the LS1 tranny would use a LT1 clutch.

I am hoping I understood that you did that on a LT1?????
thanks

Mine lasted 10,000 miles and I didn't really beat on it that much...

TH400 now...building up for the future...10 second daily driver...and YES you can drive a TH400 all the time, its FUN...

Another key to making the T-56 last is do not powershift. Train yourself to shift just as fast while lifting completely off the throttle. You will DEFINATELY notice a longer lasting tranny.

Ditto on the clutch issues. I have a ton of 11 sec passes and more than my share of runs on the street with no issues so far. I have 30k miles on the tranny. However, I don't expect this to last forever though.

I know that Jason 98 TA never had any problems from his trans, and he ran a best of 10.69 @ 127 MPH N/A. Clutch issues are a whole different story. He managed to get a whopping 7 miles out of one of McLeod's older slaves!

Mine has held up very well. No current issues as related to clutch or tranny in the last six months. I have about fiften ten second passes and numerous low 11 second passes. My clutch engages at the top of the pedal...so during shifting it is waaay disengaged before i move the shifter...and I never powershift.

**edit**
oh yeah..stock rear with 3.42s too

I've only had my synchros replaced twice in 89K miles and about 2000+ 1/4 mile passes. One rebuild was caused when a stock rearend (1 of 4) locked up and jarred the internals of my tranny loose.

1. Don't powershift - learn to speed shift
2. If you powershift, NEVER grind a gear!

One hard grind and these suckers never seem to heal themselves. Consider that gear FUBAR.

I am speed shifting. Many trannies ago and a Z06 clutch.....I powershifted to a destroyed tranny.

I need to straighten out my clutch issues. I will call cartek and see what they have to say.

I don't want to buy a new one.

Just boltons on my car, but approx. 900 passes at track and who knows what on street. 2 clutches, no tranny problems other than a little whine. No flat shifting, just speed shifting!
