Default I should replace the factory Hurst shifter.....

Right?? I heard that the factory **** will fit certain shifters. Which ones? I haven't been speed shifting this thing, but its in my blood !!! I don't need to break or bend my shift forks. Well, really I just need to protect this six speed for at least a little while. Thanks.

I have a Pro 5 with LSS. Honestly I'd just
add the LSS with the hurst. It makes a bigger
difference anyway and is cheap and easy to install.
It think mostly all handles have the same threading, if
not they sure better supply a ****.

Just get a Lou's Short Stick. It's one of the best/easiest mods I've done. It really wakes up that stock hurst. The problem is with the stock stick not the shifter itself. The stock **** works on the LSS too.

Ok I'm not meaning to jack your thread, but this is somewhat related and maybe someone can answer this without me making a new thread.

I searched and couldn't find anything, but can I put a LSS on a stock non-Hurst shifter?

I just got a Hurst Billet Plus shifter. This thing is simply.....frigging... SWEET. I love it. But now that you mention it, I have a Hurst Competition Plus shifter that has just recently entered the market. It can be yours w/ chrome stick for $70. I loved this one too, just got strongarm syndrome and needed the external stops.

I Vote Pro 5.0 with the LSS also. It's definetely much better then the stock Hurst Shifter.

I have the stock Hurst and just put a Lou's Short Stick on it. What a world of difference. If I would have known this, I would have gotten one long ago.

I also have to go with the pro 5.0 and the lss. I went to this from the hurst and the lss, and I love the way the shift feels now compared to before. It is so much more positive, and you really know that it is in gear.

I got a Pro 5.0
with a lou's short stick....

all of them wil fit right in...
stock bolts are the same as the aftermarket holes...so its all interchangeable....
I used my stock shifter bolts to put my short stick on my pro 5.0....
had the stock hurst to begin with....and originally I just cut off my hurst to make it shorter and re threaded it....

the shift **** will fit also...round or hurst...they make it standard so you dont have to buy anything special to use their product....hmmm...smart marketing...who'd-a-thunk-it....

Another vote for the Pro 5.0. I installed one a couple weeks ago. The factory Hurst feels like junk compared to the 5.0. It has good positive detents for each gear and you really have to work at it to miss a shift

Also, no need for a short stick. The stick on the Pro 5.0 is LONG, but has tons of thread (about 3". I cut an inch and a half off the stick with a cutting wheel. It's the same size as a short stick....for no additional $$.

Finally, most all aftermarket shifters for the M6 are designed to use the stock ****. It's 16mm.

Hope this helps.
