thinking about doing a tc
very new to this idea, i like the idea of it but i read bucklwi1's post it got me wondering if a stall was a good idea. i was wondering what would be a good tc for a daily driver. i don't want that real loose feeling that he described but i wouldn't mind a little extra kick if you know what i mean. figuring on doing the tc, tranny cooler(not sure where to put it though i have a cai), and trans go shift kit. a guy i know recommended a 3000 stall , lemme know what ya think

I've got TCI 3500. Really woke the car up. I haven't had any problems with it and it is fine as a daily driver. This converter will also be cheaper than some of the other brands but as far as I can tell and what other people say there is little to no difference in quality.

I have a Vig 3000 2.5 STR and it stalls to 3500. Its a great conveter and great for daily driving. Still average 17-19mpg city driving depending on how heavy my foot is that week. Trust me when I say once the coverter goes in your foot with be 50lbs heavier If you got a Vig I would go with the 3200 as stated above. Also have heard many good things about the TCI 3500.

I have a Y3000 2.0 STR installed in my 2001 Z28 with 3.73 gears. The TC change is one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do to an A4, it made a dramatic difference in the performance of my vehicle. You will have some tuning issues with an 01 &02 vehicle which will need to be addressed after the TC change (i.e. shift points and TM). Here are my recommendations.
If you are planning to keep your stock rearend gearing (assuming it is 3.23) I would go with a 3500 to 3800 stall with at least a 2.5 STR.
If you are planning to change rearend gears to 3.73, I would limit myself between 2800 to 3200 and no more than a 2.2 STR.

If you don't want to loose go with a TCI SF 3000 or the TCI Breakaway converter.
