LS1 have a few ?
Ok guys I am actually from the truck forum but looking into putting an ls1 into my truck. I was thinking about buy a used shortblock that is in good condition that I don't have to mess with. add a cam and put my 5.3 heads on it. What exxactly do I need to make this baby run with the 5.3 heads and what camshaft do you suggest. I do tow some a 21 foot pontoon and I drive this truck everyday to work and back about 45 miles. It needs to be reliable still. thanks for all your input.

the 5.3's will bolt on the the ls1 block no problem, but putting stock 5.3's on wont be very beneficial as they have smaller intake vavles then the 5.7's. the CC are also smaller on the 5.3's so you'll have a bump in compression around a half a point. i suggest you do some cam research in the truck forums, they often run a hell of alot smaller cams then we do here. you'll most likely see comps 216's, tr220's, comps 218, ect. if it were me i'd drop in the 6.0 and blow that muthafucka

thanks, but I am actually pretty set on the ls1. I was thinking something a little bigger then the 224 cam. Just working with what I can come up with. I have thought about the 6.0 and would actually like the weight saving of the ls1 and the good bolton power they have. Want to run totally NA so a blown setup is out of the question. I guess I will search more. thanks
