It's been an option code since at least the 70s... (the '79 WS6 had rear disc brakes... very desirable to us second gen owners 
). The Third Gen WS6 had stiffer springs, bigger swaybars, different shocks, and rear discs as well (I parted one of those out - had a TBI motor / 700R4 trans). Only in '96 did it take on the ram air / wheel package.
