I've found a set of rims that I like a lot that I can get with the correct backspacing and bolt patter for my WS6 however they don't come in the width I want. So far I've found one place that can widen steel rims, and one that can widen aluminum rims but charges $250 each! Anywhere else I can go?

Call Bogart wheel. Steve is President, he may help you. Its worth a shot.

An aluminum wheel would have to be electronic beam welded on a spindle for trueness with 100% penetration. Aircraft quality. Few places have this equipment.

Go here.... www.fixrim.com They will widen rims for $200 per rim but they will only widen up to 2 inches. They have several stroed but the Texas store is the only store that does the widening. I know, I know.....I am the man! I found the holy of all holy shops for rims! They also do rim repair and chroming.

Interesting that you would say that, I just got off the phone yesterday with the Miami store of Wheels America (www.fixrim.com). The rep. there said that ONLY the Miami store widened aluminum rims, and that they charge $250 per rim, and would only go out 2 inches. I called because I wanted to widen the rim on the outside edge. Several posts and websites talk about widening the inside edge, but then you have to replace the studs and run an expensive spacer because the wheel now sits 2" further into the fender well.

So you have the price of the rim (??), + $250, + $100, + shipping. IF we could widen the outside edge, for the same $200 + shipping, and not run a spacer, we would have a really cool rim for a lot less.

If you widen the outside edge you will see the weld. Also there was no way to widen my 35th's on the outside because the spokes and trim are flush.

I think the guy I talked to via email was Kevin at the Texas store. He told me he could widen my rims without damaging the chrome; therefore, I would think the modification would be on the backside (inside) edge. He said $200.00 per rim. Call him. I called a store up north here, I think near Indiana but I am not sure may have been the New York area store and the receptionist told me to contact the Texas store because that is the only store with the tooling and experience to do it.

Wheel Works in New York Does them by hand and backs up his work. He will go as wide as you want but it does cost 250 a rim. He does do aluminum. When I called he said he just got done widening some Zo6 rims to 13 inches.

The plot thickens. Interesting that I also talked to a Kevin at Wheels America, but he quoted me $250 a rim.

And just out of curiosity, what chrome? I guess we're not talking WS6 rims, unless you had them chromed.

Of course, the stock WS6 look is always good. The few posts of the people who widened their stock rims look good.

I wanted to widen my 9" wheels half an inch on all 4. That would run me about 1k, might as well get 17 x 9.5" C5 replicas for the about the same price now........

I've already used their service to have a set of 18X8 HP Designs HPR5's widened. They have no limits on how wide they can go. They charged me $200 per wheel, but that price quote was for painted rims. If the rims you're wanting widened are chrome, I'm going to assume the price will increase. (Seems like the standard industry price for chrome rims is $250.) Of their workmanship, I have to give them an enthusiastic two thumbs up. Prettiest aluminum welds I've ever seen. Also, these guys specialize in repairing damaged rims, so they have all the necessary diagnostic equipment to make sure the wheel stays in-round and balanced. (Not just some hacker with a die grinder and a blowtorch trying to make extra cash on the side with a "garage business.") Hope this helps.

www.fixrim.com or Wheels America told me that they don't widen wheels at all. That was a couple of months ago, and not very polite I might add. But they do good work on fixing bent/cracked rims.

Actually, you don't have to replace the studs and the spacers are not that expensive. The spacer/adapter will bolt onto the stock studs like normal and the rim will then bolt on to the spacer/adapter.

when running adapters/spacers you really want to have them hubcentric so the stay centered and don't go out of balance.those adapters in the pcture are not hubcentric.
