Default .055 milled heads and .550 lift cam - anyone?

My new LS6 heads are milled .055 with stock 2002 valves with Lunati REV double springs. I'm am considering the purchase of the following cam:

230/224 .560 lift - 114 LSA

Question: What thickness head gaskets and what length pushrods do I need?

...Will I likely have piston clearance problems with a stock head gasket with a compressed thickness of .060?

I believe I can special order Cometic head gaskets from .087 to 1.0 thickness or more if necessary.

Besides a loss of CR, what is the downside to having "thick" head gaskets?

I am running the TR230/224 111lsa cam with GTP stage 2 truck heads milled .050" while my solid roller setup is being fixed. I am using the GM '02 MLS gaskets (.060"), but my pistons do have valvereliefs. I had .090" clearance on the intake side and a mile on the exhaust.

Without valvereliefs, I do not see that working.

It is not a good idea to gain piston to valve clearance or reduce compression with increasing the gasket size quite a bit. Your "quench" increases your motor will become very prone to detonation, etc.

With that cam it sounds like it will be close, being that you have stock sized valves. Be prepared to fly cut the pistons, or go with a lower lift cam.

Did the cam vendor have feedback for you?
