Default New best times

This is a repost from some of the local f-bod boards that I am a member of; but thought that some of the national guys that I know might be interested. (Sorry, if its old news to you) .

Ok, I am sure a few of you read my rant on Milan from a few days ago.
http://pub51.ezboard.com/fmotownmusc...cID=1842.topic .

It wasn't that there was better track prep. I NEVER saw them put down any vht, even when there were a few sprinkles. AND I only got 3 runs in, for a time period of about 6 hours.

BUT, I was able to put the et streets on at home, and drive to the track. instead of the 3+ hour drive to ubly. And I doubt I would have run better there.

To figure out how to make the most of my 3 runs in, I had to do some thinking.

First off, it was an import day. I figured that meant a lot of street tire cars. Which was true, but they leave from a different spop on the track than rwd cars. THAT HELPED A LOT . Plus, they lumped the test and tune cars in with the full race cars. Almost ALL of them were slick tire sub 12 second cars. AND, I figured out after the 1st pass, that is we waited for ALL the slick tire cars to go, the track would be decent. It WAS!

1st run: 1/4 tank, et streets at 14 and frt shocks at 1, rears at 6. launch at 3500

2:33 pm
1.920 60'
7.817 1/8
96.75 mph
11.977 1/4
119.65 mph ---- Got the 11 monkey off my back!

2nd run: 14 psi again, shocks the same, 4500 rpm launch

3:42 pm
1.835 60'
7.657 1/8
96.97 mph
11.791 1/4
120.28 mph --- better, but need more launch

3rd run: tires at 12 psi (thanks eric). launch at or just above 5000!

5:03 pm
1.669 60' --- This felt good
7.332 1/8
97.78 mph
11.430 1/4
121.15 mph

Whoohoo! Now I think my ultimate goal for this fall might actually be reachable. just need to get a 1.50 60' and some other stuff. lol

What suprised me, was how much the 1/8th mph was up vs wed; but the 1/4 was same. I think that shows just how much the headwind was hurting today. At times the wind was at least 10 mph. My best mph last year was 123.1 with a 96.64 1/8th. The tires may be killing some mph too. Who knows?

Thanks agin for letting me vent in a positive way this time. Now I think I have the gremlin off my back.

Sounds like you're almost dialed-in now, congrats.

I assume you got the axle swap done and have tuned with Edit. How much boost are you running?

Ok, sorry I didn't post the cars mods. I just forgot .

I have a 2000 NBM Formula !WS6 6 speed.

Incon Twin Turbo at 6 psi. Currently at 11:1 a/f, still waiting for the timing map for 8 psi and pump gas. Then the boost goes up 2 psi, and af to around 12-12.25:1.

Car has 42# injectors, intank fuel pump (supplied with kit), Upgraded valvesprings, pushrods and retainers. The rest of the motor is stock.

Other mods are: NGK tr6's at .035, TB bypass, 160 stat, TPS voltage tweaked, ripper shifter, SPEC stage 3 clutch (carbon), Powerslot rotors, HAL shocks and struts w. drag springs, BMR sfc's, BMR DS loop, SLP boxed phb, Metco LCA's w relocation brackets, DTS 12 bolt w. 3.73 gears, 17" re730's on frt (45 psi), 26/11.50/16 et streets (12psi) on chrome stock wheels, and SLP loudmouth exhaust with no cats.

Car has NO weight reduction yet. Runs were made WITH spare and jack in the back; AND frt swaybar attached. Weighs 3626 without me in it, at a 1/4 tank of fuel. Should weigh 3900 with driver and a full tank of gas!

Car dyno'ed at 460/480 at ~7psi and 12.5:1 AF on a mustang dyno. Had to throw a bunch of fuel at it last spring to combat some pinging. Dropped it to 430/450 at 6.5 psi and 11:1 AF (on same dyno). Now, the actuators are weakend from sitting all winter, and I only see 6 psi. For comparison's sake, it made 477/490 on a dynojet at current boost level.

Short term plans are: New chromoly DS, Granger valve to get to 8psi, Timing finally fixed, proper A/F of approx 12-12.25-1, Dynabatt battery, RR airbag in spring, and Harlan 2 step.

New tuning should net me ~500 rwhp on the same mustang dyno I have been using. about a 60-70 hp increase from where the car is now.

With the right conditions (track and weather) this fall; I hope to get close to the 10.9x range. If I start getting close (11.1-.2), I will TEMPORARILY remove the spare, jack, swaybar, and back seats to see if I can do it. I figure I will need a 1.55-1.60 60' time and 124.5+ traps at my weight to do it.

thanks. The only thing is, out of the local Incon cars that go to the track regularly; I have the slowest one.

I just wish I could do a set of pistons, rod bolts, and stage 2 6.0L heads to reduce compression. Should be able to run 9-10psi, and make 550 rwhp. Still on pump gas.

That would get me that 10 for sure. Even at the current waist size .

Rod,

What has the fastest/quickest Incon car gone so far? The last I remember, it was a low 11.
