Default Driveshaft vibration

After I changed the rear u-joint during the 12 bolt install, my car experienced a high speed vibration. I tracked it down to the driveshaft and temporarily almost fixed it with a hose clamp judiciously placed. I had noticed when changing the u-joint that the end caps didn't seem to be seated the same distance into the yoke, but figured I hadn't done this in 25 years, so probably no biggie. Then I noticed there were no snap rings holding the cups in, and discovered the heat removal method. I got the drive shaft balanced over the winter and all is fine now, but it got me to thinking. I suspect that GM balances the driveshaft after the rear u-joint is installed, and it is not necessarily installed centered. Ergo, you change the u-joint, you get a vibrating driveshaft unless you get it balanced again.
